JURIED EXHIBITION
October 11 & 12th
The 2008 Paseo Fine Craft Festival will include fine craft artists who specilize in all types of 3D art. It will be held in conjunction with Plein Air Painting by notable artists and a Quick Draw competition.
HOW DO I APPLY
Complete the entire application form and send all required materials. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The application deadline is July 30, 2008; applications are due on that day and late entries will not be accepted. Artists will be notified on or before August 28th, 2008. No Express Mail will be accepted. Submit three images plus a booth photo on CD for each media represented in your booth. Slide entries are not accepted. CD submissions must be jpeg format, RGB, 300 dpi and sized to 5 x 7 inches. Images cannot be re-sampled from a lower file size. Label the digital image with your last name and a number that corresponds to a printed list with your name, the number of the image, title, media, and dimensions. Do not include any other information on the disc.
Applications that are not accepted will be returned promptly, along with the $200 check in the self-addressed, stamped envelope. Artists who are accepted will be able to pick up their CD at festival time. PAA reserves the right to use festival artists’ images for public relation purposes.
The last day to withdraw without forfeiting the exhibition fee is September 15, 2008.
WHAT QUALIFIES?
All fine, three-dimensional crafts. Eligible fine craft categories: ceramics, mixed media, fiber (wearable and decorative), textile, basketry, leather, wood, sculpture and jewelry. All items displayed must be the original work of the artist. Assemblages, embellishments, commerical products, or work from commercially available kits are not eligible. Culinary products and consumables are not acceptable. The jury reserves the right to exclude any work that is deemed commercial or does not conform to the high standards of the show.
ARTIST AGREEMENT – IMPORTANT
Participating artists must represent their work personally in their booths while the festival is open. Artists agree that displayed work will be original – designed, executed and signed by the participating artist(s). If two or more artists have collaborated on a single work, the names of all the contributing artists must appear on that work. Such collaboration pieces will be deemed as a single entry. All art in the booth must be for sale.
FEES
Jury Fee is $25
Booth Fee is $200
SALES
All proceeds from exhibitors’ sales go to the participating artist. Exhibitors are responsible for their own transactions, including sales tax. PAA offers a Visa/MasterCard service for a 5% service fee.
SECURITY
The Paseo Artists Association provides overnight, on-site security; however, the PAA cannot assume any liability for any loss or damage to display or art.
EXHIBITION SPACE
Each participating artist will have a 10-foot square space. Every effort is made to create a layout that is not competitive with similar media. The artist is responsible for display materials and tent, which must fit the designated size. It should be designed for outdoor use. Electricity (110v) is available for an additional $65.
Booths may be shared by special request only; $65 must be added to the original $200 exhibition fee if the request is honored. Up to two artists are allowed to share a booth.
WEATHER POLICY
Exhibitors should understand that this is an outdoor festival and as such will continue even during inclement weather. Unless the event is cancelled by the Festival Committee, any artist who leaves before the festival closes without consent of the committee will not be invited back.
JURORS EXPECTATIONS
High standards for fine craft are key to the success of the festival. The panel will consider numerous aspects of the work submitted, including craftsmanship, design, creativity and professionalism.
AWARDS
Best of Show: $1500 | Award of Merit: $1000 | Honorable Mention: $500 Awards will be presented on Sunday, October 12 at the Artist and Sponsor Reception.
