Magic Lantern Celebration on Paseo
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (October 8, 2014) – The Magic Lantern Celebration on Paseo is scheduled for Sunday, October 26 from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. Paseo artists open their doors to the creativity of children with an afternoon offering a new twist to the Halloween tradition. Children of all ages are invited to descend upon the streets of the Paseo Arts District to celebrate a time of light instead of fright.
Children can become part of a unique event of their own making. Community artists offer children and parents hands-on costume-making activities from 3:00 to 6:15 p.m. Children will travel from studio to studio to build their costumes. Children will also have the opportunity to make a lantern and design a pumpkin using natural materials.
Rain or shine, the “Spin n’ Sparkle Dance Parade” is scheduled to be outside on the street from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Children will display the costumes they’ve made during the dance. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Activities are held at the north end of Paseo at NW 30th and Dewy. The locations participating are Rainbow Fleet, Paseo Art Space, StarDanceSwan, Studio 3014 and Paseo Pottery. All activities are free to the public. Donations are accepted to help with the costs of the event. The Magic Lantern is made possible through the support of the Oklahoma Arts Council, the Paseo Arts Association and Theatre Upon a StarDanceSwan.
