PASEO ARTS PRESS RELEASE |

April brings ‘Drips’ and ‘Drops’ to The Paseo Arts District
‘Drips’ and ‘Drops’ at the beginning of April usually suggest spring showers. But for visitors to the Friday, April 1, Paseo First Friday Gallery Walk, will find that these ‘Drips’ and ‘Drops’ are the distinctive works of two artists on display at the Paseo Art Space during April.
Drips are the black and white photographic works of Oklahoma City artist Nancy Werneke. Werneke who prefers to work in black and white, explains, “I fell in love with black and white film photography in 2004. The pure form and beauty is a vivid, sometimes subtle, language for emotions.”
She noted, “Works by photographers such as Milton Greene, Aaron Siskind, Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange inspired me to photograph people, abstracts, cityscapes and landscapes”.
“I would have gladly been the station wagon driver for Ansel Adams, when he photographed Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico, 1941. The graceful art of these photographers saturated my memory, “Werneke said.
The Drops of the April show refer to the hand crafted jewelry designed by Joyce Davis of Mustang. Davis is a jewelry maker with a passion for creating pieces that fit an individual’s personality and flair. Davis works fulltime at her career as a Registered Nurse; she spends her free time making special jewelry pieces. She especially likes to make earrings for family and friends.
Davis began making jewelry eight years ago after she became intrigued by the process of selecting beads and semi-precious stones because of their eye catching color, shape, and origin. Davis also notes that she loves designing custom earrings, necklaces, and bracelets especially in silver and embellished with semi precious stones.”
The dual show will be on display in the Paseo Arts Space throughout the month of April beginning with the First Friday Walk on April 1.
The Paseo is Oklahoma City’s living arts district where arts and history come alive.
