PASEO ARTS PRESS RELEASE |
2010, Year of the Paseo: Take A Walk on the Art Side and 12 Months of Resolutions
Oklahoma City – The Paseo Arts District is claiming 2010 as the “Year of the Paseo” and it will all start with the luck of the blue moon on New Years Day. Join us as we start the year with the Paseo First Friday Gallery Walk, Friday, January 1 from 6-10pm.
Each month the Paseo Arts District will celebrate a resolution to experience art and culture in Oklahoma City’s premier arts community. Paseo is where art and history come alive, as over 75 artists, more than 20 galleries, all within walking distance, are outlined in Spanish architecture and a unique atmosphere. Some of the best dining and shopping experiences add to the flavor of the area.
What will Paseo hold each month, as we help make resolutions happen? Here are just a few hints…

Watch, as each month Paseo will use these resolutions to create an experience like no other in the city. As for January, INDULGE! Spend some of your holiday cash as the Paseo Arts Association hosts “smART,” a juried exhibition of small works. This is the best place to start a collection of art by Oklahoma artists as affordable prices. Most of the studios, galleries and businesses will have great sales during the January Gallery Walk as well. Paseo Grill, Sauce and the new Picasso Café will tease your taste buds with some of the best culinary arts in the city.
Lori Oden, Executive Director of the Paseo Arts Association says, “We are excited about creating opportunities, building a sense of community, and adding to cultural experiences. As we all begin a new year with particular resolutions in mind, the Paseo Arts District is dedicated to making some of them a reality.”
The Paseo Arts Association is also proud that we are partnering with the Sierra Club and have set a goal to recycle at least 90% of festival aluminum, grease and plastic. Last year we recycled over 600 pounds of aluminum alone. These are bottles and plastic that will not go into our landfill.
