PASEO ARTS PRESS RELEASE |
PICASSO’S on THE PASEO and TOR
The Paseo Arts District, where arts and history come alive, proudly announces two new additions to its collection of restaurants and bars: “Picasso’s on The Paseo” and “the other room” (TOR), a multi unit 4,000 square foot full service eatery and lounge at 3007 and 3009 Paseo. Both the restaurant and bar are scheduled to open on November 15, 2009.
Shaun Fiaccone, a partner in both endeavors, says “Picasso’s will offer a menu and atmosphere congruent with the neighborhood, but predicts that the food, design, theme and staff will attract not only the uniquely diverse neighbors of Paseo, but patrons from across the metro who seek something new and different from soulless chain restaurants and mass marketed bars. The menu will consist of a host of vegetarian and non vegetarian options and pizzas that appeal to the masses in high value portioning. The goal of the Chef will be to offer simple and time honored foods, executed perfectly with quality ingredients.” Menu items include: beef or bean hamburgers with hand cut French fries with truffle cream, capra-goat cheese, roasted figs and prociutto pizza, Cuban with pulled pork, dijonaise, ham, and American cheese sandwiches as well as ravioli with cashew cream. In addition to being open for lunch and dinner, Picasso’s will serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
Operating in spaces formerly occupied by Galileo Restaurant and Isis Bar, both Picasso’s and TOR will cater to both families and bar patrons. New table tops, moveable booths, lighting and artwork will help establish the ground level as a comfortable dining area. Movable booths and an elevated stage will allow for weekend musical performances. The atrium will undergo restoration and serve somewhat as a reading room where long lunches can be enjoyed with the benefit of free wireless internet, a comfortable cozy chair and an inspirational view of the colorful galleries on The Paseo. TOR will operate as a hip, “dark” place. The cocktail list will feature alcohols and drink recipes that pay homage to the age of the speakeasy. A variety of roll-your-own tobacco and cigars will complement the small batch bourbon list.
Fiaccone and his partners, experienced operators of restaurants and bars, are excited about becoming an integral part of The Paseo Arts District. They cite the artistic, alternative and collaborative culture as a primary reason for moving into the area. Picasso’s on The Paseo and TOR join the other eating and dining establishment in the area: Sauced, a full service coffee bar and café; The Paseo Grill, a casual yet sophisticated dining experience; Paseo Reserve; a private dining facility, the Venerable and Historic Red Rooster Bar and Grill, Oklahoma City’s oldest continuously operating bar and grill; and The Prairie Gypsies with its entrees to go service; in offering a unique dining and viewing experience in the Historic Paseo Arts District.
With its rich history dating back to the 1920’s, the Paseo Arts District is a truly unique neighborhood located in central Oklahoma City. Its Spanish revival architecture stucco buildings were once home to jazz clubs in the 1950’s and the counter culture of the 1960’s. It was during the 1970’s that the area began its transformation in to the vibrant artist haven that today is home to nearly 20 galleries as well as restaurants and boutiques.
